Description
The Residential Treatment Center is a family-centered, out-of-home placement for 48 boys and girls ages 7 to 17 who are unable to reside in the community due to their response to trauma they have experienced in their lives. The residential program meets residents' social, emotional, physical, educational and spiritual needs through an inter-disciplinary team approach.
The team includes social workers, family life specialists, recreation staff, teachers, chaplain, psychologist, psychiatric nurse practitioner and medical staff. The inter-disciplinary team partners with the parents and child to assure achievement of goals and that the lessons learned are carried over to the return home.
Success Story
"Cheryl" was having difficulty at home, hanging out with the wrong crowd, skipping school and engaging in dangerous behaviors. After refusing to participate in preventive programs, she was ultimately placed in the Children's Home Residential Treatment Center.
After 10 months in placement, Cheryl returned home to her family. She is now 18 years old, attending college full time and working as a waitress. Cheryl recently purchased a home through a first time buyer program.
