Description
The Emergency Shelter is a group care facility that provides confidential, around the clock care and supervision for ten children, ages 4 to 15. The Shelter provides a structured, nurturing living environment in which daily program routines help to establish a sense of security through predictability and consistency.
The program is based in a community setting and maintains an excellent reputation for providing nurturing care to children coming from a crisis situation.
A team of social workers, family life specialists and medical professionals, working in conjunction with the Department of Social Services, helps to stabilize the child and determine the best plan for the child's future.
Success Story
The program phone rings at 2:30 a.m. The family life specialist takes information on a sibling group of three that has been left "Home Alone." The police are looking for a place to house the children until some family members can be located. The youngsters, age 7, 9 and 11, are admitted to the program shortly after the call.
Emergency Shelter - a safe place to be.
